Porcelain Fillings

Cosmetic Dentistry serving Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Porcelain fillings are a strong, durable, natural looking option for restoring teeth damaged by decay.

Made from a specially formulated porcelain composite material, porcelain fillings can restore your damaged teeth to their full function and natural beauty. More durable than other types of filling, porcelain fillings can actually strengthen the tooth.

About the material

Porcelain fillings are crafted from a specially formulated dental ceramic material. This porcelain material is designed to be tough, durable, and visually indistinguishable from natural tooth enamel.

The longest lasting dental filling material available today, porcelain ceramic fillings can last as long as thirty years, and are stronger and more durable than even natural teeth.

About the porcelain filling procedure

Porcelain fillings are often referred to as inlays and onlays. What this means is that, rather than being shaped in the tooth itself, your porcelain fillings will be created in a laboratory and then placed within and adhered to your tooth.

Your porcelain filling procedure will be done over the course of two office visits. During your first visit, the decayed portion of your tooth will be cleared, and we will take an impression of your tooth, which we will use to mold your new porcelain filling.

We will then fit you with a temporary filling to protect your tooth until your next visit.

During your second visit, once your filling is completed, we will bond your new filling to your tooth, creating a durable permanent bond.
