Restorative Dentistry
Cosmetic Dentistry serving Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
No matter how white and dazzling your teeth are, they're never at their best unless they're strong, healthy, and in good repair.
Of course, many of our cosmetic dentistry procedures are also frequently used for repair of tooth damage, including:
- Porcelain and composite fillings, for cavities
- Dental bonding for more extensive tooth decay
- Porcelain crowns for teeth that have been seriously damaged
We also offer a range of restorative dentistry procedures including tooth replacement, and treatments for gum disease, snoring, bad breath, and neuromuscular problems such as temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ/TMD).
Tooth replacement
Even people with the best health and dental hygiene can sometimes end up losing one or more teeth. Whether it's a result of decay, injury, disease, or other factor, it's important to have missing teeth replaced as soon as possible.
Some of the tooth replacement options we offer include:
Gum disease
Gum disease is one of the leading causes of tooth loss, damage, and dental pain and discomfort.
As we age, our gums can become diseased and damaged, causing a host of dental problems. Fortunately, with early diagnosis and prompt treatment, many of these problems can be halted and even reversed.

Snoring and bad breath treatments
Dental treatment isn't just about the health of your teeth and gums. It's about your whole mouth. Many of our patients don't realize how much we can do for them in terms of treatment for issues such as snoring and bad breath problems.
Neuromuscular Dentistry and TMJ health
Neuromuscular dentistry makes sure the temporomandibular joint is aligned correctly before and after all your cosmetic and restorative dental work.
What is the Temporomandibular Joint?
The temporomandibular joint is the joint on each side of the jaw that connects the skull and lower jaw and provides for the range of movement—including up and down, side to side, and back and forth—required for chewing, speaking, breathing, facial expressions, and a host of other activities.
What is TMJ / TMD?
Because the temporomandibular joint is so essential and so finely tuned, it can often be thrown out of alignment by even the slightest structural changes to the bite. This condition is called Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, or TMJ / TMD. This can happen naturally, through aging, tooth loss, gum damage, or tooth decay; and it can also happen as a result of ill-fitting or poorly planned dental work, such as bridges or crowns that are improperly fitted, or smaller dental work such as porcelain veneers and white fillings.
TMJ / TMD Symptoms
Some of the symptoms of TMJ / TMD include:
- Loose teeth, and loss of teeth
- Bruxism, or tooth grinding
- Uneven tooth wear
- Headaches, neckaches, and migraines
- Soreness of the facial muscles
- Clicking and popping of the jaw
- Difficulty chewing and speaking
- Tinnitus(ringing in the ear)
Many of the symptoms of TMJ / TMD can serve to worsen the condition, as the bite becomes more misaligned with continued wear on the teeth and gums.
TMJ / TMD Prevention
Dr. George and her team carefully plan all of their dental work to ensure that the temporomandibular joint is properly aligned. Before any dental work involving structural changes, Dr. George will analyze your bite to ensure that your dental work will fit perfectly.
TMJ / TMD Treatment
For patients who have already begun to show signs of TMJ / TMD, Dr. George and her staff offer a variety of treatments, including treatments for the symptoms of the condition, and treatments to restore the function of your bite, halting and even reversing the condition.
